Updated guideline on Clostridium difficile infection
Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) recently updated the 2010 published clinical practice guideline on Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). The update includes significant changes in the management of this infection and reflects the evolving controversy over best methods for diagnosis. The updated guideline recommend molecular diagnostics (NAAT) for diagnosing Clostridium difficile from patients likely to have CDI based on clinical symptoms.
